After School Clubs at Smartkidz Play and Learn
Welcome to our After School Clubs in Cambridgeshire, where the end of the school day marks the beginning of a new adventure.
At Smartkidz Play and Learn, we understand that after a long day of learning, children need a place where they can unwind, explore, and be themselves.
Our after school clubs are designed to provide just that—a nurturing environment where children are free to play, take risks, build confidence, and, most importantly, have fun.
Our After School Club runs from Girton Glebe Primary School.
We are committed to allowing children to be in control of their own play and the resources within the setting. This is done through our Children’s voice board, where children can write or draw activities and resources they would like.
We know that the transition from the school day to after school care can sometimes be daunting. That’s why our playworkers are there to greet each child with a warm, welcoming smile.
As children arrive, burdened with bags, books, and PE kits, they are met with a positive atmosphere that quickly lifts their spirits.
The smell of delicious snacks, the buzz of excitement in the room, and the promise of endless play opportunities make that initial reluctance fade away.
Our after school clubs offer a wide range of activities designed to cater to all interests. Within the first 20 minutes, you’ll see children immersed in various forms of play, from reading in our quiet areas to climbing on slack lines and rope bridges in our outdoor spaces.
Children can get creative in our workshops, engage in imaginative role-play in our play areas, or simply relax with friends.
Whether they’re painting, building, or exploring our forest school environments, children are free to choose how they spend their time.
At Smartkidz, we believe in child-led play, which means that children are in charge of their own experiences.
Our playworkers are there to support and encourage, but they also understand the importance of stepping back and letting children lead the way.
This approach helps children build self-esteem, develop problem-solving skills, and learn how to manage risks on their own terms.
We recognise that play is not just about having fun—it’s also about learning to navigate the world. Our playworkers are trained to discuss and assess risks with the children, allowing them to understand the boundaries and learn to manage risks independently.
This might involve letting a play activity continue a little longer before stepping in or asking the children what they think might be unsafe about what they’re doing.
Often, the children surprise us with their insight and ability to self-regulate, making the play experience even more valuable.
We also understand that every child is unique, with different needs and ways of relaxing. Some children might want to run and play outdoors, while others might prefer to sit quietly with a book or engage in a creative project.
Our clubs provide a flexible environment where all children can find something that suits their mood and energy level.
